What are your Tae Kwon Do classes typically like?
When a child comes into the school, they bow to Grandmaster Lee and Master Vahid. When the class starts, Master Vahid or another black belt will lead the class in stretches and a warmup. These exercises are always presented in a fun way because your child should be learning but having fun at the same time. During the rest of the class, there is a always a mixture of different practices to increase the student’s skills. The class is always ended with a fun game or some other fun activity. We always make sure that the class is fun and exciting!

Do you offer an after-school program?
No, we don’t. We prefer to concentrate fully on Tae Kwon Do, not daycare. We are purely a Tae Kwon Do school, and we are experts in that. However, our classes may offer a solution for you so call us at (813) 991-6565 to see what we may be able to do to help.

What's the difference Tae Kwon Do, Karate, Kung Fu and other martial arts?
We are often asked what the difference between Tae Kwon Do, Karate, and Kung Fu. The answer is: it depends. The main, obvious difference is that they each have different countries of origin. Tae Kwon Do comes from Korea, Karate comes from Japan, and Kung Fu comes from China. From the outside looking in, you may not be able to see any differences between the martial arts. One of the reasons for that is there are martial arts schools that put up a sign saying “Karate” but they just do a mash up of anything that they like. This can make it hard to learn how to tell the difference. Tae Kwon Do is sometimes called the “kicking martial art”. While it’s true that Tae Kwon Do emphasizes kicks and jumping, it offers so much more and it’s not just kicking. Like with any martial arts school, the teacher will determine what you learn and some teachers emphasize one aspect over the other. Or they’ll make a large effort to be well-rounded. To find out if you will like what we teach, contact us or fill out the form on the right today!

How long does it take to get a black belt?
Unfortunately, that’s an impossible question to answer! It depends on many factors: the student’s drive, the student’s dedication, how prepared the student is, how often the student is able to come, etc. Some people can get a black belt in a few years but it all depends. More important than getting the black belt is the journey to get the black belt. If you and your child aren’t having fun on your way to black belt, then it doesn’t matter how long it takes. That’s why we make things fun!

-
Will martial arts make my child aggressive?
Absolutely not! Tae Kwon Do is not about beating people up, it is about self-defense. Students are taught the values and tenets of Tae Kwon Do, which always includes respect to themselves and to others. Even though Tae Kwon Do looks violent from the outside looking in, it is really about learning to defend yourself without ever fighting. Furthermore, any aggression that a student brings into the program when they start usually disappears after a few weeks because they have a new outlet to get their aggression out in a safe and fun way.

-
My child is not athletic. Will he or she have problems in class?
Children who don’t like or find success in team sports often come to martial arts and they end up loving it. That’s because students progress at their own pace in a fun, encouraging environment. Team sports can hurt the self-esteem of children who aren’t very athletic, but with martial arts, everyone is greatly encouraged regardless of his or her athletic level.

How safe are your classes?
Very safe! Every class is taught by our main instructor, Master Vahid, and overseen by Grandmaster Lee. They have had years of experience training and teaching Tae Kwon Do, and they know the methods and techniques to minimize the chance that you and your children won’t be injured. While they can’t guarantee your child will be free of injury, they make every effort and take every precaution to make sure your child stays unhurt.
